What are some cons of the early steamboat by Robert Fulton?

What are some cons of the steamboat, perfected by Robert Fulton in 1807? Models such as the ‘Clermont’, I already know used excessive amounts of coal, and created a lot of pollution. Please contribute any infromation. Thanks! :)

    Fulton invented it and made the design.
    the 1st boat was Clermont
    It was tested on the Hudson river but failed
    they fixed it and then it worked at a to speed of 5mph
